While at Code One this year, one of the promising new technologies mentioned seemed to be the GraalVM product.
I am in no way a GraalVM expert so I'm not familiar with the specifics of it but it sounded like with this that polyglot programming, compiling to near native performance was possible and seems like that would be something good to have available.
