There are already new builds being made of OpenJDK for Apple Silicon. So NetBeans should soon be able to run natively on Apple's new ARM-based processor architecture, without relying on the "Rosetta" compatibility layer.
The OpenJDK port for Apple Silicon is being contributed by Microsoft(!) and Azul. ARM processors were already supported by OpenJDK on Linux, and Microsoft has already contributed an ARM port for Windows. Now they are contributing an ARM port for MacOS as well.
