Just having a look now. We have a linux make based project setup, so we can get
it to work, but there are a number of missing features that would prevent us
from moving:

  * No support for entering multiple configurations
  * "Clean and Build Project" appears unsupported
  * Build doesn't set focus to the output window
  * Although "Run" worked with a relative path, "Debug" only worked with an
absolute path
  * Navigate -> Go to declaration/definition is missing
  * I didn't have any luck with autocompletion support

With debugging

  * Threads window didn't seem to have any threads
  *   Variable window doesn't auto-populate
  *   No memory window
  * No option to run console applications in a new terminal window

And some others that are nice that are in 8.2 but are not critical to switching

  * No longer gnerates/updates file list from make file
  * Breakpoint window doesn't indicate currently hit breakpoints

Is there the possibility of pulling more of these features from the 8.2 plugin
(I do not know the specifics of the oracle donation and migration as they
relate to the c++ plugin).

Subject: Re: C++ support roadmap

It would be great to get feedback on the LSP/TextMate rudimentary support
introduced in 12.1:

http://netbeans.apache.org/download/nb121/index.html

Have you tried that? I.e., use 12.1 and you’ll find a new project type for
registering your environment and then you’ll get the above features.

Ideally, we’d build on from there — and we could identify the specific
features we’re missing from the 8.2 plugins and see how to support those
specific features by means of the 12.1 starting point.

Though Jan Lahoda and others, feel free to comment.
