Hi All, Based on the thread at https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/r9ea55f3d1e14186bd9f149c8771308cf0a5bf3c2ef784604e8e1c764%40%3Cdev.netbeans.apache.org%3E , as well as the fact I've started referring to 12.4 in various places already, and there are other things that will affect the coming release, can we agree the following? In short, dropping LTS until at least our second release after JDK 17 release, while keeping the dates of the current schedule.
* May 2021 release will be 12.4, a normal quarterly release, and not an LTS. * August 2021 release will be 12.5, a normal quarterly release, and not an LTS. * November 2021 release will be 12.6, a normal quarterly release, and not an LTS. * NetCAT won't be run as originally scheduled after 12.3, but *might* happen at or after the 12.6 release. * February 2022 release *might* be NetBeans 13.0 (or 13!) and *might* be an LTS. This is under https://community.apache.org/committers/lazyConsensus.html - direct +1 or -1 here please. What we're NOT deciding, but still need to discuss over coming months : * Whether to keep having an LTS (hopefully reviewing usage patterns there too!). * If keeping LTS, what it is / provides. * Whether to switch to straight integral versions from 13 (eg. 13, 14, 15). * The future for NetCAT - how it runs and when, etc. * Keeping quarterly releases manageable. * And probably a fair few other related things ... Please keep discussion of those in the original thread linked above or elsewhere! Just pointing out they're there, and we're not deciding that now.
