There is an issue that nb-javac isn't prepared until after the JDK has a final release. So, nb-javac for JDK 17 should land around Oct 1st in time for 12.6 freeze in mid-Oct. In my opinion, before nb-javac gets included in the IDE by default, its long term sustainability and that delay needs to be addressed, as well as the ability to work with an EA of the next JDK.
