I can't quite remember but there was actually somewhere a bug where the
diff view was swapped - so it is possible that this changed behavior is
actually the result of a fix.

used to be in reverse and it was consistent with the way the diff between
an old revision and the current file was shown. I think the change was
introduced with commit 95d61a34848efbe984ebf095e888a562215a39a2.
