Hi, Three issues, all technically minor, but I'd like to ask about them. The first involves the installer. On my Win 11 system it installs NetBeans 27 into C:\Program Files\NetBeans26 and does not ask me where I wish to install it. I generally do not place development tools into Program Files but keep these tools in their own folder. Easy to fix, just move it where I want it but annoying that I must do that.
Secondlly, yes, it does use NetBean26 as the folder name. It does come up as version 27 when run but it appears to have overwritten my NetBeans 26 installation. Finally, is there any way to override the version of Java that runs NetBeans. I am experimenting with Java 25 and have set the project options to Java 25 and it does work with Java 25 features such as IO.println rather than just println. I see from the about box that NetBeans is running on Java 24. I cannot find a way to reconfigure NetBeans, so can I replace the jdk folder in NetBeans with the OpenJDK folder for Java 25? Testing versions of the Friends of Apache NetBeans installers for 27-rc1 are also now available at - https://github.com/Friends-of-Apache-NetBeans/netbeans-installers/releases/tag/v27rc1-build1 These will be the only installers for release candidates unless problems are reported on the installers themselves. Hopefully if the process can be fully automated in future, installers can be provided for all release candidates. Please note if testing the deb or rpm that GitHub replaces the ~ in the version String for release assets. They should install fine without renaming, but the hash file references the original 27~rc1 file name.
