The installer is clearly a success! The stats themselves are also very helpful;
I always found it hard to parse the Apache servers' download statistics.

It is interesting to see that there's at least 300,000 active NetBeans users on
Windows alone--and that only counts the ones that decided to upgrade for this
particular release, and who used the installer rather than ZIP etc.

All this volunteer work really benefits *a lot* of users. Thanks Neil, and all
the other contributors!

Subject: Community installer stats for NetBeans 27
Hi All,

Now that the release of NetBeans 28 is in progress, and as my final
installer-related task, I've taken a snapshot of the download
statistics for the NetBeans 27 community installers. Figures for
NetBeans 26 were shared previously -
https://lists.apache.org/thread/g8cflo6n10dpvs994nlf039m5ofdo30t

Windows exe x86_64 307,688 (71.76%)
macOS pkg x86_64 19,496 (4.55%)
macOS pkg arm64 85,025 (19.83%)
Linux deb x86_64 10,852 (2.53%)
Linux deb arm64 2,183 (0.51%)
Linux rpm x86_64 3,507 (0.82%)

TOTAL 428,751 (compared to 228,055 for NetBeans 26)

Figures from GitHub API via live view at
https://tooomm.github.io/github-release-stats/?username=friends-of-apache-netbeans&repository=netbeans-installers

Interesting to note the substantial increase from NetBeans 26 - as I
said in the previous email, that was always the slowest 3 month period
for installer usage.

Interesting also to note the significant increase in the proportion of
macOS arm64 downloads - 5.70% to 19.83%

As last time, enjoy your stats with a good pinch of salt! :-)

Best wishes,

Neil
