Hey all, hopefully I will not slaughter this introduction too bad :-) I am Wade Chandler, and I have contributed to various areas of the IDE and platform since it was called Forte for Java (hard to keep track of the years), such as the form editor, Java and generic project support, and more recently Groovy, used the platform for applications and projects, and use the IDE daily while working for a great top media company.
NetBeans is a labor of love and hobby for me, and of course as a software development professional it has had a monetary and career impact. I have always been intentionally independent in my NetBeans endeavors for various reasons, but more generally, it is my "thing". A small group of us started the NetBeans Dream Team right at 10 years ago with Bruno Souza who was with Sun at the time. Just as Apache has merit based processes, so does the Dream Team, which you can read about on our wiki pages, and see in our slow, steady, and deliberate growth. We have all committed to contributing to NetBeans and the NB community long term, and we acknowledge others who we see doing the same within the community by inviting them to join us in continuing to do what they have been doing, but to push further with a closer team and commitment to one another. We plan to carry on with these traditions, and just as we will soon announce newly elected members, we look forward to watching and cultivating new members here at Apache. Undoubtedly we will be finding our way in this new and exciting Apache future. I am very excited and happy to be here. Many of us have pushed for something like this for a long time, and we plan to work and strive to help make it a success. Thanks much!
