Releases is the biggest repository that also has the individual release
branches. The default branch of releases does track the default branch of
main-silver.

So if you want to make you own NetBeans 8.0.1 build and patch it, you would
use releases which has the release801_fcs branch.

I have personally always used main-silver. I believe nightly builds are
also created from main-silver.

Today only https://github.com/emilianbold/main-silver is up-to-date. You
can only use this.

https://github.com/emilianbold/releases is still being converted. It has
only reached May 2009 so it's going to take a while until it gets to 2016.

Once releases is done, since it has everything, we should only use releases.
