We could check exactly what command is used and replicate. But, it would be good if the releases tab on GitHub matched, because some people will use it! You might not know it, but you and I are pretty much of the same opinion - I'm happy with using the GitHub UI as long as the process is not reliant on them / can be replicated without. I have more concerns about the PR / code review process than this.
