Disable "Checking for external changes" in an RCP application

Hello,

Recently we switched from NetBeans 7.4 to NetBeans 8.2 and all of a sudden
our RCP application occasionally hangs while displaying the "Checking for
external changes" progress bar. How can I disable this functionality in my
RCP application?
