I'm on Mac OSX 10.13.5 too. If you downgrade your Ant to this, we'll have the same environment:
Apache Ant(TM) version 1.10.1 compiled on February 2 2017 Possibly what you've discovered is some kind of problem with the latest Ant, which, judging by the June 19 date, is extremely recent.
