To be frank, I think this is the very best way to work on an issue -- first discuss it on the mailing list so that the problem can be narrowed down and so that someone who can fix it's interest is peaked (in this case Jan Lahoda) and only then let's create an issue (rather than creating an issue and then hoping someone will find it).
So at this point, would be great if you'd create an issue and reference this thread.
