Actually @pvillard31 this is yet another great observation as @joewitt and
I have seen something similar during the intermittent failures of
```PublishKafkaTest.validateDemarcationIntoEmptyMessages``` (missing messages).
I also remember some chatter about similar things on Kafka mailing list
specifically related to new API. I'll work on it as well as tidy up lifecycle
as it seems yo be an issue for empty polls.
