Team, It has been almost one year since we released Milestone 1 of NiFi 2.0.0. Over the four milestone releases, we have resolved almost 2000 Jira issues, added numerous capabilities, and removed large amounts of technical debt. Although there is always more that could be done, we have reached the point where we should release a stable 2.0.0 version.
The current release version [1] has almost 300 Jira issues resolved. With the release of NiFi API 2.0.0 and the NiFi NAR Maven Plugin 2.1.0, we are in a solid position to go forward with a 2.0.0 version. Although there are bound to be additional areas we want to improve, we should consider those after a general availability release. With that background, I would be glad to handle Release Manager responsibilities for this version. Unless there are any critical blockers, I plan to start the release candidate process before the end of this week. That should allow time for a few more items to be completed.
