Pat,

How much memory does the system have?  Certainly perplexing that there are
so many issues.

I remember when you first wrote to the list you were using 12.04 LTS.  I
saw in a subsequent message that your lsb_release shows 14.04.  Is the same
"machine" (real or virtual) that just had updates/upgrades applied?  Or is
this a different instance?  I would like to try to recreate the environment
with what you have shown.
