This details previous correspondence on the Cassandra Store and how a similar problem was recently dealt with.
Can I suggest that you subscibe to the Gora dev mailing list (if you have not done so already), they are pretty low volume at the moment but some things like this will undoubtably come up in the future and as you are using nutchgora it's a perfect oppertunity to sort it our due to the multithreaded nature of components such as the fetcher.
