Hi everyone,

As above, this was a continuation (after replying with Markus and Chris'
comments) from the GUI thread.
---------------------------------------------
Thank you for taking my comments into consideration and for your questions.

Yes, I am a bit behind and am running Nutch 1.2. Perhaps moving forward to
1.3 and delegating indexing and search to Solr would solve some/most of
the issues I was having.

>From the developer's point of view GUI may not provide huge benefits, but
from the user/administrator it could be useful. Just like one can inspect
Solr with GUI, I would see a similar UI for Nutch. It could be used for
monitoring fetching threads, progress, changing crawl parameters at
run-time, etc. But I agree, it is more of a 'nice to have' feature rather
than a necessity.

Thanks,
----------------------------------------------
Secondly this was another discussion with another consistent user of Nutch.
He had bad experiences of the wiki in the past, I asked him to have a look
now and although it is improving it looks like there is still a power of
work to be done in some areas.
--------------------------------------------
http://wiki.apache.org/nutch/NutchTutorial is an example of a good page
(one of the ones I referred back to most often when starting with nutch),
but it could use some hyperlinks in each section linking to more details
about each component. For example, In the beginning of the "Using
individual commands for whole-web crawling" section, it is briefly
explained that nutch data is composed of the crawldb, linkb, and segments.
This explanation is a good length for this tutorial, but it would be nice
if each of those was hyperlinked to their own wiki page going into much
more detail about each.

I think the wiki could be improved a lot if you focused on organization and
giving lots of examples.

Also, I don't know whether you're connected to Solr at all, but that wiki
is even worse. It is very hard to find examples or anything beyond a brief
and vague explanation on there.
-------------------------------------------------------

All for now guys... thank you
