nutch-default.xml still states:
??In order to use HTTPS please enable protocol-httpclient, but be aware of
possible intermittent problems with the underlying commons-httpclient library.??
Now https is supported by most protocol plugins and there is no need to
activate protocol-httpclient to fetch https:// pages.
