Hi [~pemanuel], I was able to reproduce the issue and also locate the reason:
in older versions of the commons-codec library the method
[encodeBase64String(...)|https://commons.apache.org/proper/commons-codec/archives/1.11/apidocs/org/apache/commons/codec/binary/Base64.html#encodeBase64String-byte:A-]
returns a chunked string (see the [implementation in version
1.4|https://github.com/apache/commons-codec/blob/CODEC_1_4/src/java/org/apache/commons/codec/binary/Base64.java#L653]).
Even recent released of Hadoop 2.x ship with 1.4, Hadoop 3.1.0 and upwards
(see HADOOP-15054) uses 1.11 which is the same version Nutch depends on. Only
in (pseudo)distributed mode the Hadoop-provided dependency is used. Thanks for
this hint, that was the key to locate the reason.
