Ok. If it's urgent and shall go into Nutch 1.21, please let me know.

Yes, of course. We should support Java 11 as long as Hadoop does not move finally to Java 17. And we'll keep the automatic tests running on Java 11
until then. This ensures that we stay compatible.

But we make any changes which are compatible with Java 11 ahead.
This also includes make the unit tests succeed on Java 17, see NUTCH-2971.
Also some tasks in the list of NUTCH-3045 could be done now.

Best,
Sebastian

Hi, Sebastian,

I was going to ask soon about making another update to index-arbitrary. I'm writing plugins again because it doesn't pass to the POJO the objects it was called with. And I was looking just today at Nutch-3045, updates for Java 17. At least the investigate tasks can happen separate from Hadoop's upgrade schedule.

Are any of these worth pursuing right away?

  Thanks, stay safe, stay healthy,

  Joe

Hi Lewis,

I volunteer to take over and push the release of 1.21 forward during the upcoming weeks.

Any comments or suggestions?

Any open issues which should be included in the release.

Thanks,
Sebastian

Hi dev@,
I would like to propose that we perform a Nutch release. I'm happy to manage it. Any comments from dev@ community?
Thanks
