I am wondering it's possible to test on the real hardware if we don't get the donation from the commercial company.
Another option is to make the test software design so that it does not depend on any particular hardware. I would like to be able to run the tests on my desks using hardware of my choice.
I understand that to do that, I would need to create some special "plug-ins" that make my board look the same as any other board.
Support by some large company is one option, but the option I prefer is more of a grass roots approach, driven by bottom up development. We need sufficient infrastructure to manage a common set of tests cases that could be ran against any hardware that has support for some well-defined set of interfaces.
With a grass roots approach I think we can motivate and encourage more people to participate.
