I would be more inclined to create a us...@nuttx.apache.org or something like 
that,
if your idea is to have a discussion forum for users between them (instead of 
users with
maintainers + maintainers to maintainers which is the current use of dev@).
But if you want to keep googlegroups for this purpose for now it is OK too. In 
that case,
could we do the following two simple items:

* modify the header which appears on the google groups page at 
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/nuttx which 
looks like this:


So that it includes a notice like "this is not the official discussion list for 
NuttX" and points users to dev@ for that.
* add/modify welcome message to indicate something similar

This way we are sure users seek contact with maintainers in the appropriate 
place and maintainers do not have to monitor that list as well for bug reports, 
etc.
