Max, Sorry you are having trouble, I agree mailing lists are hard to use without subscribing and I think you found what would have been my suggestions for accessing the archives. I included you directly in this response so hopefully you will get it.
If you have "issues" that you want to discuss such as the one you posted about with the sm32f4discovery board feel free to open an actual GitHub issue and we can try to resolve it there. We try to avoid too many of the "how do I" kind of questions there, but if they are posted usually they will still get a response just the audience may be smaller.
