Hi Alan,

Well in that case, that’s unfortunate. I just found the information on the
proposed dates and it’s gonna be the 22.10.-24.10.2024 which is actually 12
days after Community over Code NA … so possibly it could work for you guys,
right?

And I fully agree with running IoTDB on embedded … that’s totally out of scope,
but TsFile is going to be super small … it’s just the part that writes
timeseries data into so-called TsFiles (these can be of any size) … so the idea
is to collect data on the device in TsFiles and then send them off in a chunck
to an IoTDB instance to work with the data.

Chris

Hi Christofer,
I think many people could be interested in participating, but I'm afraid about
the dates because you think it could be 4 weeks before Apache Community Over
Code NA that is supposed to happen October 7-10, 2024 in Denver, CO.

It will be very close to our VI NuttX International Workshop (that normally
happens at the end of September see: https://events.nuttx.apache.org ).

Although this year the workshop will return to the North Hemisphere (Japan or
China), so maybe it could happen in June/July during the summer.

Do you think it is okay to present the same/similar talk on both events?

I saw about Apache TsFile and IoTDB a few days ago, when I was looking for
Apache IoT projects.

Actually what they call "light weight" is too big to run on small
microcontrollers (few KBs vs dozens MBs).

I listed some good DB alternatives to use on NuttX here:
https://acassis.wordpress.com/2022/03/15/list-of-small-dbs/

Note that SQLite and QDBM are already used by companies running NuttX on their
products.

Best Regards,

Alan

Hi Alan,

no, I didn’t forget to send the link, because there actually shouldn’t be a
link just yet.
We’re still in the phase of discussing, if we should do this. It only makes
sense to continue planning, if there is enough interest from the Apache side.
And that’s what I’m currently reaching out for: Would there be enough interest
to attend or to even submit talks to this sort of event.

And yeah … I’m the PLC4X guy with the plush civet ;-)

And yeah … I already stated digging on what NuttX is, as I think it might be
interesting running PLC4X (PLC4Rust or PLC4C) on it … and possibly the brand
new Apache TsFile.

Hi Christofer,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention!
I think you forgot to send the submission link, because there is no reference
to that conference at https://www.eclipsecon.org
BTW, I think you are the guy from Apache PLC4X, right?
I think it could be integrated on NuttX (at least the plc4c) inside
apps/industry/ subdirectory.

This any anyone with a board supported by NuttX (currently we have more than
300 boards) will be able to test PLC4X (main focus should be boards with
Ethernet or WiFi and RS-485).

Alan

Hi folks,

I was contacted by some of my friends in the IoT Space at the Eclipse
Foundation.

They are planning this year's EclipseCon to work closer together with the other
foundations in this space and proposed an Apache IoT Track in paralel to the
EclipseCon. This will be happening in Mainz in Germany I think 4 weeks before
Community Over Code NA.

I promised to reach out to the projects I know at Apache that count to the IoT
space.

I really liked the idea of networking with the other foundation's projects as I
think this is something happening far too little.

So would you folks be interested in submitting talks and attending such a
conference?

Also the CFP for CoC EU in Bratislava is only open for a few more days and so
far the IoT related submissions have been ... let's say ... less than I was
hoping for.

So if you folks are planning on submitting: Do your track-chair (me) a favor
and don't submit on the last day ... it's always a hastle to whip up a schedule
if you can't do it in an orderly way, but get "shot by what's there" on the
last day.

Looking forward to feedback,

Chris
