Status of 2.x branch

Hi,

I'm wondering if the 2.x branch is effectively dead? It has at least one 
feature I'd like - BPEL extension support.

I read on a blog somewhere that the WSO2 folks backported extension 
support to 1.3.4 in their fork of ODE. Would it make sense to backport 
extensions to trunk, or is 2.x expected to rise from the dead at some point?
