If you start on this screen -
https://demo.ofbiz.org/accounting/control/EditFixedAsset?fixedAssetId=DEMO_MACHINE_GROUP
then click Depreciation
then it will show:
The Following Errors Occurred:
Field expectedEndOfLife is empty in FixedAsset data.
Perhaps something is missing from the demo data???
