Apache Commons has just granted me karma to move our conversion framework to
their sandbox, with the goal being to have it replace their abandoned Convert
project.
I will be working on making our existing conversion framework code operate as a
stand-alone library, and then get it committed to the Commons sandbox.
After the Commons PMC has had a chance to review it, and if they decide to make
it a part of the Commons project, it would be great if anyone in the OFBiz
community who is interested would participate in that project as well. I
understand that there were concerns raised about a loss of control should the
conversion framework be spun off to its own project, so I want to assure the
community that I will do all I can to keep us involved in its development.
