I believe that current functionalities in OFBiz facilitate the wish set forth
in the title of this issue. I am talking about the multi-tenancy
functionalities in OFBiz. Which should be suitable for having multiple separate
legal entities in a multi organisation/multi-currency business setup.
Specifically regarding the various external reports that legal entities are
obliged, by law, to produce based on differences in country, accounting setup
and options.
I also believe that regarding this subject we are talking more about
organisational reporting aggregation than accounting aggregation. The first is
easier to achieve than the second. Doing reporting in XBLR and having import
and export functions would facilitate this. It would definitely alleviate the
need to create complex transaction processing functionalities that address the
issues related to inter-entity currencies and issues regarding the time delay
in and the approval processes of (sending and receiving) legal documents
between the various legal entities supported and managed with OFBiz.
But this is nothing more than assumption and conjecture without in-dept
requirements analyses and scoping. If we are to embark on this venture I
suggest to consult the community to see whether this set of improvements is
something that is wished for/wanted/needed in OFBiz trunk and invite the
community to participate in (business) requirements analysis, business-case and
use-case definition. Which, can then be worked out as tasks related to this
issue.
