Hi Paul, all, I think it would be easier for everybody to directly vote in the Jira issue itself (there is a mean for that in Jira).
I can understand Anil's worries about replacing how things work at the moment. So I made a proposition (your point 2). To clarify things, I will work on it and create a new Jira issue with a patch (rather than a branch now).
