The setting is specific to the datasource. For example, in the OOTB
configuration, I set the main datasource (800+ tables) for 4 threads,
while I leave the others at 1 thread.

Fair enough! I still think that this settings should be a better fit in a
*.property file rather than in an xml configuration file for a datasource. But
as I said, I am ok with the current version, so we are all happy.
