The original use case of the screen is the following:
in a make-to-order process, the company has to prepare a plan for the schedule
of production runs of the month (or other short term); the manufacturing
manager and the order manager prepare a "shipment plan" and then agree upon it;
the shipment plan represents the goods that will be manufactured and must be
ready before the shipment can go out (for example a truck that will visit a
region, delivering goods to all the customers in it); after the shipment plan
has been confirmed, the production runs are created and executed.
