For a given Product, could we try creating single production runs against 
multiple shipment scheduled to be shipped on same date instead of multiple 
production runs for multiple shipments.

Possibly all the Shipment for a given item can be grouped by estimated ship 
date and total qty from all these shipments can be passed to create single 
production run corresponding to each such est-ship-date-wise groupings for ease 
of processing.
