Pierre Smits commented on OFBIZ-6899:
-------------------------------------

In payment of purchases checks are official documents from the internal
organisation to the intend receiver of the check, as it is a promisory note.

And thus it needs to be registered by the issuing internal organisation in its
ledger(s), similar like a an EFT transaction. And like bank transactions these
registrations need to be reconciled. And until a check is collected, it is a
registration of a liability.

Within OFBiz we can treat these outgoing checks in 2 ways:
* the OFBiz system generates the check (similar like other outgoing payments)
* the manually issued check (from the checkbook) is registered in OFBiz (thus
becoming an outgoing payment).

Likewise, a check received is an asset until handed over to the collecting
agency and the sum of the check added to the bank account.

So basically there are 2 sub-ledgers to take into consideration.
