Decisions are taken by adopters. And when existing adopters have extended their
current implementations with additional Ant tasks (like I have) I can imagine
they would appreciate it when the project would provide a solution that
wouldn't lead to:
* conflicts each time the project updates one of its core elements (the build
methodology)
* extensive cost regarding repair or circumvention of the solution provided by
the project
* cost regarding migration from Ant to Gradle.
The removal of Ant scripts from the code base, and the changes over the past
few weeks in the build.gradle file by the project. has led to me having to go
through hoops to get what I have working against trunk - as a pre-emptive to
upcoming release.
A little more flexibility towards adopters and a less dogma (by 1 privileged
contributor; with - what appears - only 'developers' on his mind) could/would
make a lot of people happy.
