The default "minimal" does not require Server to have this information, thus if 
it does include there is potential that some client implementations may break. 
I can not comment on the dot net implementation. 

Yes, type can not be determined, but client knows the entity type it is 
querying, if the entity type is derived type, then I believe @odata.type is 
included in the payload.
