Requests made for Eduard Koller and Bing Li. No request made for Charlene He as
I'm on my way out the door and don't have time to dig out his UCLA to look up
the requested availed. I'll check my mail again when I come back, hopefully it
will be here.

Stephan & all,

I did’t get the Apache user yet, and it appears that the process is stuck
somewhere. From what I understand, you will need assistance from mentors to get
this completed.

Below is the info I got from Ross Gardler
<rgard...@apache.org<mailto:rgard...@apache.org>>, member of the Incubator PMC
(disclaimer he is also a work colleague though not on our OData related work).
Ross offered to help with mentoring the project and assist if you send him a
formal request to join as a mentor.

Can you please follow-up with mentors and/or Ross to get this process unblocked?

Thanks,
Eduard

You can see all the stats yourself (usually processed within a day). There is
only one request in the queue at this time, which is not yours. I suspect the
podling has neglected to request the account (which should be done once they
receive confirmation from the secretary that you iCLA is on file). More about
this in a moment.

More generally, if the podling is finding their mentors don’t have the time to
guide them adequately feel free to suggest they invite me to join as a mentor.
I’d be happy to help. I don’t have much time to monitor activity but since you
are now a committer you can always shout across the hall to ask for guidance.

Back to the current work item. If the podling has not yet made the account
request, they may find some materials I wrote many years ago useful. There are
a bunch of email templates for PMCs to use, coupled with some useful pointers
to tools around the ASF. It seems the PMC is using a part of this since the
email below is one of those templates, but they may have fallen out of the
process now.

The next template in the process is
http://community.apache.org/newcommitter.html#committer-accept-template

You should read this as it provides some useful pointers to info about the ASF.
It also includes the line “We will arrange for your Apache user account when
the CLA has been recorded.”

My guess is that the process is stuck at this point. The link above provides
info on how they request the user account (immediately after the email
template). They need the assistance of their mentors to actually give you the
necessary commit bits, although I can do this if I receive a formal request to
help with the mentoring burden.

Feel free to share this mail with the PPMC to save you some typing.

Ross

Hey Ross,

What is the usual timeline for getting Apache users?
I did not got mine yet, and I’m wondering if the process is stuck somewhere.

Thanks,
Eduard
