Yes, please!  As long as you follow the proper release policy and have
three PMC members vote +1 on the release, that's a great idea.

If you can truly show that *PMC members* are active enough, the board is
likely to be willing to delay the vote to move to the attic, if that's
needed to complete a last release.  But not too long.
