Subject: Re: ApacheCon on-hold sessions: Additional info

 Dear Rich,
I didn't received any message yesterday regarding this topic, so this is the
first time I've heard about decision on our talk.Unfortunately, if I don't know
in advance that the talk is accepted, I can't justify to go to the conference
to my company.Ohad Shacham, the co-author of the talk, is in the CC so maybe he
can tell you if he wants, or can justify going, to the conference in any
case, and present directly there if the talk is accepted in case 3.
In any case if a slot is open soon for our talk on Omid due to 1 or 2, please
let us know.
Thanks in advance,
Francisco

Yesterday I emailed you to let you know that your talk is on hold for
ApacheCon Seville. I've received numerous questions since then as to
what this entails.

(Yes, some of you have since told me that you can't attend, and I've
removed you from the onhold list.)

There's basically three scenarios in which an On Hold talk may become a
scheduled talk.

1) Someone who just received an 'accepted' notice says, no, in fact,
they won't be able to come.
2) Closer to the conference, someone has to cancel for some reason
3) At the event itself, someone is a no-show

In any of these cases, we'd go to the on hold list for replacements. The
big difference is in timing, of course, and whether you were planning to
be at the event regardless. In case 3, of course, we couldn't schedule
your talk if you're not there. So we just need to know if a) you're
planning to be at the event anyway and b) whether you'd have your talk
prepared alread in the event that we needed it.

We do hope that you will still consider attending ApacheCon anyways, and
to say thank you, we are offering all submitters a 20% discount off
registration. If you register, and your talk is then accepted, we will
refund your registration fees.  Please register by selecting the
"Attendee Registration" option and use the discount code: AP2SPK16.

If you applied for travel assistance, you should have heard one way or
the other a week or more ago. I am not the one in charge of that.
Contact the Travel Assistance Committee - [email protected] -
for that information.

If at any point you have questions, or just want to hang out with other
speakers, there are so many ways to stay in touch. Drop by #apachecon on
the Freenode IRC network. Or contact me directly at [email protected].
And follow us on Twitter at @apachecon. And join the apachecon discuss

Thanks for helping make this the best ApacheCon yet! See you in Seville!
