I think the main culprit is not StatusTransitService but
CoordMaterializeTriggerService.
I don't have hard evidence yet (I have been unable to reproduce this) but a lot
of coordinator-related tests are prone to fail when this service runs. I'm
going to create a JIRA ticket soon about possibly disabling all background
services, simply because they are unnecessary and just constantly give us a lot
of headache.
