I have looked at Apache Falcon.
It generates XMLs and configuration (*Properties* objects) usually by loading a
template XML fragment that will be used as a skeleton for for example an
action, unmarshals it into a *JAXBElement* and modifies / adds some elements.
Apart from using JAXB, I don't think it has so many features that we could be
interested in in connection with this issue.
