Yarn (native) services has been added to Hadoop Yarn in the 3.1.0 release.
Since then it has evolved and has had lots of bugfixes/stabilizations committed
to Hadoop. Though the feature is still not considered stable officially, lots
of production clusters using Hadoop 3.1.0+ benefit from it.
YARN services has great value to the end-users and has the following features:
- performs configuration resolutions and mounts,
- lifecycle management such as stop/start/delete the service,
- flexing service components up/down,
- rolling upgrades services on YARN
- monitoring services’ healthiness and readiness and more. [1]
It would be nice if Oozie was able to handle Yarn services along with
traditional applications.
