I've worked on commons-pooling, and it has some well known and severe threading bugs. I wouldn't recommend it for OpenEJB until those bugs are resolved. Even then, commons-pools is much more then we need in OpenEJB, and we may be better served by a smaller, more tightly focused, library (or custom code in OpenEJB itself).
