U mean that it will search in all running processes to see which one
is a java one ?

No, that's why you have to explicitly give the process ID of the running test as a parameter to jstack. But this is not the right place to ask generic questions about how to use the command line and how operating systems generally work. You have to learn that elsewhere.

Hi Dain...

Sorry for being not so smart :), but can you explain more how to use
the tool, I know that I found the command reference but still don't
how to use as when I start building source code the command line shell
can not execute another command till the build end execution, sorry
again if it is a stupid question, but please explain.

Just open up another shell while the test is running and run the tool there?

In the case of an OS signal the thread dump is printed to the console
window that started the java process. If you use javaw to start the

the dump is lost.

On Windows, typing ctrl-break in the console window that started the

On Unix, the command kill -QUIT <pid> or typing ctrl-\ in the console
window that started the Java process.

If you do get it to hang, try to get a thread dump from the

Without a thread dump it is very hard to fix this bug.

Even at the risk of sounding like a n00b, I must ask: how do I do
that?

David should look into this particular test, since it seems to
only
pass
randomly.
