It's an interesting idea. Since OpenEJB is an ASF project there will need to be some community guidelines. Not everyone has or can get a google+ account. And so, just like IRC or voice chat/conference system and even a face-to-face conference, any technical discussions must be summarized on these mailing lists. No final decisions kind can be made outside of the mailing lists. This does not mean that you cannot use other technologies to expedite the answer to a complicated question or to obtain a technical consensus in an expedient manner. It's just that the technical discussions must eventually wind their way back to the mailing lists for the rest of the community to participate; be prepared to re-hash points that were worked out outside the mailing list.
