So when I tried to manually create the tables using the command line client, it
gave me an error when I tried to use the TYPE keyword.
That is about as far as I can troubleshoot with this issue because I am using
Glassfish 4 which doesn't allow OpenJPA as the persistence provider. I guess my
suggestion to anyone else who is in the same boat as me with maybe an earlier
version of Glassfish would be to use the provided persistence provider, have it
manually generate your schema for you and switch to OpenJPA. But that does not
solve the issue.
