Hi What you are doing looks very interesting and useful I am working with Google Maps and my own custom layers and I'm wondering if this can solve my projection headaches. I'll try to implement it and get back to you with my results.

With that being said, how would you guys like these conversions in OL? Currently in OpenLayers.Layer.Google I create an instance of OpenLayers.Proj for 41001 and use it has needed.
