Changeset 7654 [1] added functionality to retrieve the typeName from a GML response. This works fine for Geoserver responses, but does not work for Mapserver responses because of whitespace issues.
If I use something like cleanWhiteSpace from Prototype it works fine, but does anybody have another way of achieving the same thing? See also [2].
