Ananda, At this time, I do not believe that OpenLayers has made a commitment to mentor students for the Google Summer of Code program. Our wiki page for ideas is a remnant of last year's program. It is possible that someone will step up to offer mentorship at some point, but right now, I am not sure that we will be able to accept your proposal.
